Synthetic gypsum system 1

Handling lower-cost flue gas desulfurization (FGD) gypsum for two cement mill systems.

Gypsum hopper and feeder model

The project objective was to reduce cement production costs by replacing higher-cost natural gypsum with lower-cost synthetic gypsum from flue gas desulfurization.

The plant operates two cement mill systems. The installed system includes two dump hoppers, each equipped with two drag flight feeders. Gypsum from each hopper is metered onto a collecting belt conveyor equipped with a weigh idler. This conveyor discharges onto another belt conveyor, which feeds the cement mill inlet chute.
