Fly ash handling system

Improved feed control and flow measurement for calciner fly ash addition.

The existing system fed fly ash directly to the calciner. Occasional uncontrolled surges in fly ash flow disrupted kiln operation. The modification objectives were to improve feed control and flow measurement.

The modifications included replacing two rotary valves with two rotary feeders, modifying two screw conveyors, removing two impact flowmeters and one F-K pump, and installing a Pfister pneumatic weigh feeder and a fabric filter system. One existing F-K pump was retained as a backup.
